Sumudu Edirisinghe, graduated from the department of Electronics Systems Engineering, University Essex, UK 1997. In 2001 he was awarded a PhD by the University of Essex for his research on Dispersion Compensation in High Speed optical transmission. In 2001 he joined Iotron Ltd, a fibre optic switching company as an R&D Engineer and has worked terrestrial and submarine fiber optic communication systems. He has over 15 years of Industrial experience working at fibre optic solution developers Infinera and Xtera in Systems design, Project Management, Field deployments and in Sales. He is currently works as a Sales Systems Engineer at Xtera UK which provide submarine optical fibre transmission systems and as a consultant at Hunter Communications Hong Kong, Engineering solutions for global fibre optic networks. He joined SLTC as a senior lecturer in Telecommunication in 2017 and now heads up the School of Technology. He has also pioneered research activities in fibre optic communication including a development of a state of the art research facility at SLTC. He is actively involved in curriculum development and the development of the university while serving as a member of the University Executive. In addition, he heads up the University Students Enterprise an organization that develops entrepreneur skills of the students.
