Dr (Mrs.) S.P. Amila Vayanganie obtained her B.Sc. degree majoring in Physics from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2011 and obtained her PhD degree from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka with exchange program at Uppsala University, Sweden in 2017. Her PhD research focused on lightning channel properties using high speed photographic techniques. Dr. Amila has worked as a demonstrator at Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka from October (2011) to June (2012) and subsequently as a research assistant at same department from July (2012) to July (2014). She is a Visiting Lecturer for the External Degree Program/ B.Sc. in Electronics & Automation Technologies at Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She has gained experience in high voltage laboratories such as Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University, Sweden and Institute of Power Engineering, High Voltage Laboratory, Warszawa, Poland during her PhD studies. Her research interests includes understanding natural lightning channel properties using high voltage discharges, high speed photography and image processing techniques. She has contributed to 10 publications during past 5 years which includes 3 science index journal papers, 6 international conference papers and 1 Sri Lankan conference paper.
